Mountain Engagement Session Outside of Las Vegas | Vegas Engagement Photographer | Mt. Charleston Engagement Session
Anytime of the year, I LOVE mountain engagement sessions. During the summer in Vegas, Mt. Charleston is literally the only place you can go outdoors to escape the heat and then during the fall and winter, Mt. Charleston gives all of the holiday vibes, complete with snow if you’re lucky!
I got to hang out with Cristina + Cameron in the most beautiful light, with the most comfortable temperature, witnessing their freaking adorable love.
Picking outfits for mountain engagement sessions
I have been having a ton of requests for engagement sessions in the mountains, which means I’ve been getting to explore a bunch of different outfits that would look great for these sessions! Cristina ended up picking out this white combo that stood out SO beautifully against all of the green and yellow foliage going on at Mt. Charleston.
When picking an outfit to wear against more natural colors of the mountain and trees, especially for fall sessions, I always recommend reds and oranges/rusts. They always look phenomenal against green + they automatically give off fall feels. + I will start recommending white year round!

What time should you start shooting a mountain engagement session?
Well there are a ton of things that you have to consider when picking your ideal time for a mountain engagement session to start.
Check sunset time of the zip code you will be shooting in.
Plan to start your session at least 2.5 hours before that sunset time (for 1 hour sessions). Remember that the sun will go down on the mountain before it goes down in the valley!
You should be able to find a good amount of shade to shoot in when you have a lot of tree coverage, so you can definitely play with light and time of day!
BUT the best glowy, sunset light is going to peak through those trees in those last 2 hours before sunset!
And we still got to soak in the beauty of blue hour on the mountain! Mt. Charleston really is such a great place for a mountain engagement session outside of Las Vegas. There really is no better way to escape the heat than to run off in the mountains! + it makes for the best photos.
